Hey, I want to be like everyone else. So, I too will dream out loud of creating the do-all master synthesizer for the ages. One of the base philosophies will be to build it out of parts on hand. Luckily for me, I have a bunch of semiconductors available to me. I welcome any and all comments about this project.

| 11/15/99 | Since I have many AD9955 DDS chips, I should use these as the starting point. Now, should I go to a DAC right away, or keep it digital a little longer, i.e. do the VCA function via data or voltages? Also, will the system bus be 8-, 16-, or 32-bits wide? What should the master clock frequency be, IOW, what sort of frequency resolution is desirable? What sort of polyphony, or even multi-timbrality, should it have? |
