VZ-10M

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: 4-part multi-timbral(?), 16-voice polyphonic interactive Phase Distortion (iPD) synthesizer. Each sound source is created from up to eight DCO/DCA pairs. 2U rack mount with detachable IEC power cord. MIDI In, Out, & Thru. Mono mix output (1/4"&XLR) and two split outputs on 1/4" jacks.

WHY IT IS PART OF HdK: A "friend" had a VZ-10M and convinced me that I needed one. I do like strange noises, and this box is known for strange sounds - but, jeez, this box is a disapointment at first. As most all know, the factory presets are only acceptable to the hard of hearing. Still, I have faith that something good will come out of this box. Otherwise, I will have to re-evaluate the 'friend' status of the guy who talked me into this thing.

DH-100

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Mono-timbral, 1-voice polyphonic unknown synthesis technology synthesizer. Hand held synth with built in speaker. Neck strap included. Standard woodwind fingering plus the new improved Casio fingering. A whopping six presets built in. Velocity controlled with breath. Battery operated with adapter jack (adapter not included). MIDI Out only. Mono output on 1/8" jack.

WHY IT IS PART OF HdK: I'll confess, I've played woodwind fingered instruments since fifth grade. When I saw this high quality instrument on close-out at Macy's, I knew I had to get it. It was something cheap, like 50 bucks, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it. I had this for years before I got any other MIDI equipment. So, anytime I went to a friend's house who had a synth, I would grab this horn and my one and only MIDI cable and beg to play sounds on their module with my sax. Most people were kind enough to tolerate me. My interest in this instrument was reborn after I discovered the great sax presets on the Prophecy.
